RSS Case Management

We will continue to have access to case management available on Tuesdays at Wardell CORE.

Please make an appointment or drop in to see the team from Uniting for intake application, ongoing support, check-in or referrals

RSS case managers can assist you through the complex journey of disaster recovery including ;

• help to develop a recovery plan;

• applying for grants and financial support; - linking with key services

• suppliers and expert advice;

• housing support/solutions and

• disaster-proofing your life and wellbeing.

They can help you make appropriate community referrals to additional services and assist you to access other social and community resources.

Case managers are available to meet you privately at Wardell CORE in our consultation room and can offer home visits or phone support to help you get back on track.

Some things RSS can assist you with are connecting and referring you too legal aid, free financial counselling, financial grants assistance, disability support, aged care support, free services from health professionals for mental health, domestic violence, alcohol and other drugs, social and family support, housing and temporary housing support, camplify, providing material aid, providing food relief, emergency relief and much more.

We are seeking input from residents throughout the Wardell district for targeted support programs, workshops and assessment for materials supply.

Plastering Workshop Two-day workshopSaturday 6th & Sunday 7th July10am - 3pm

Learn basic plastering skills: mixing plaster from powder, smoothing over join lines between wall sheets, corners, hole-filling, plus filling gaps next to windows, doors.  Learn about several different types of plaster material to use, how many layers, drying times and sanding so it is ready for paint. Please note that plastering requires some work with arms and hands, but there will be lots of breaks.  

Location will be at a private house.  Participants will be given the address closer to the time.

This is an introduction to internal wall painting. Learn some tips and tricks about how to prepare surfaces for painting, including those with old paint on them, what paint to use, how many coats, gap filling along boards and architraves and drying times. We will be using rollers on extension poles and paint brushes. Bring your questions to ask an expert!

We are helping community members access this great new "Get Healthy Service" which offers FREE phone and online health coaching to help you make lifestyle changes to improve your health.

Drop in and let us help you register. Wardell CORE is also able to offer you 3 x $10 fresh produce bags FREE if you sign up.
Delivered by NSW Health, the service is available to people over 16 years of age living in NSW.

When you join, you’ll receive 6 or more confidential coaching calls with a university qualified health coach.

These coaches can support you to:

• set and achieve your health goals

• eat well and keep active

• reduce the amount of alcohol you drink

• reach and stay at a healthy weight

• gain a healthy amount of weight in pregnancy

• stay active during and after cancer treatment

The program is designed to fit in with your life, with coaching available at a time that works for you.

Wonderful Wardell event  a day to connect, play and get creative 

Wonderful Wardell is a fun one-day event, offering the community an opportunity to get creative, catch some tunes and share time with family and friends.

From 10am - 3pm on Sunday 30 June 2024, the Wonderful Wardell event will bring the western end of Richmond Street alive with free, fun, and playful activities for people of all ages along with a great line up of the region’s most imaginative artists and facilitators, musicians, and performers.

Our Annual General Meeting will also be held on Sunday the 23rd June 2024 after weigh in. This meaning all Positions of the Wardell Angling Club committee will be open for nominations and positions will need to be filled. Please note to continue to run the fishing club we need committee members along with active fishing members so if interested in helping run and support our local fishing club please come along and nominate yourself.

Come help us clean up a section of the the Richmond River with OzFish Keep it Clean campaign.
We will be tackling a section of East Wardell riverbank, riparian zone and mangrove habitat.

Join the community who share a love for fishing and a commitment to environmental stewardship. Together we’re not just picking up litter, we will be preventing plastic and debris from harming marine life, protecting our fisheries and ocean and creating change that will inspire others to follow suit.

If the good feels aren’t enough, there will also be PRIZES on the day to reward you for your efforts. The event is family friendly so bring the kids along and let them know there’ll be some rewards on the cards for them!

Saturday June 29, 9am - 11am

We are excited to announce we are taking registrations for term 3 of our Wardell Ukulele group !

There will now be two groups on offer. L1 introduction from 4:00-5:00pm and L2 development from 5:30-6:30pm.  

The program is a social group, perfect for beginners or anyone who enjoys making music.We have a class set of beautiful new Ukuleles for community use and music books, but if you have your own instrument or guitar feel free to join in the fun.

This 10 week program will be lead by local music teacher Mike Ward starts April 29th, Monday evenings from at Wardell CORE. We have scheduled this program to be inclusive of young people who may want to join after school. All ages welcome 

Strum along and join us for a laugh and learn to play Ukulele. Register now to join in, spaces are limited and we may look to run a second group session if there is interest.

Hot tea, coffee, hot chocolate or some hot soup if you are lucky.

We will have heating available as the season gets cooler.

Food Support

We have a wonderful range of food support options in our food pantry, community fridge and frozen meals supply.

If you or anyone you know is in need of support come in and see us. We have an amazing range of cereals with some beautiful muesli and granola from the generous team at Brookfarm.

We have a stocked pantry with supplies from Foodbank including pasta, rice, sauces, tinned food, biscuits, milk, tea, sugar, pet foods, and basic toiletries.

Just delivered is also a great range of ready to eat meals from the amazing folks at Fare Share.

Our food pantry is available every day we are open. Drop in Tuesday - Saturday. Don’t go without or make your budget stretch further.

Every second Tuesday

Whether you're a seasoned enthusiast or just starting out, we're thrilled to have you join us. We need people who are interested in using sewing machines, happy to cut patterns, hand stitch, or embroider to help us scale up and create a crafty production line.

Our program is designed to bring together individuals who share a passion for sewing, making and crafting and a desire to make a positive impact in our community. Through our collaborative efforts, we'll not only hone our sewing skills but also create beautiful and functional goods that will benefit others.

Wardell CORE from 1-4pm, this activity will run every second week. We have at least 4 sewing machines available and welcome you to bring your own.

We are also calling for donations of cotton fabrics, end of rolls or decent offcuts.

Get ready to unleash your creativity, connect with fellow sewers, learn skills and make something wonderful together! Our first projects will include draft stoppers, tote bags, and hot water bottle cosies for winter.

Huge thanks to everyone who has been bringing in their cans and bottles for Return and Earn.
Recycle for a cause ! Bring in your drink containers and help us fundraise for Wardell.

Please provide only the eligible containers as pictured, uncrushed and with barcodes visible. We prefer them unmixed and in boxes if possible. Deliver to the WardellCORE back gate for collection.

Wardell’s Wellbeing Program offers a dedicated space for professional counselling services and qualified mental health supporters for the community and Wardell district.

Our facilities and programs are an essential asset for our community’s recovery and mental health. We are privileged to have the support of supported by Healthy North Coast to be able to provide this safe and welcoming space and offer a range of support with our amazing team of registered counsellors and mental health workers.

We provide a drop-in centre, appointments on demand and referral services available 6 days a week. We can also offer outcalls and outreach or consultation by phone. Our mental health services are free, discreet and confidential. You can come and talk to our professional team at any time for help, advice or support or just drop in for a cuppa and a chat.
