We will have plenty of entertaining scares, finger food, kids activities, face painting and of course Halloween fashion ! Get your costume ready this week for best-dressed prizes.

If you would like to be involved - please get in touch. We are looking for a few extra ghouls and vampires to help out on the night.
Will you be offering trick-or-treat or would like to ? Come and see us if you need help, we can print you a sign for your gate to participate and add you to the trick-or-treat map. We have started building out a map of participating houses.

Recovery Support Service is a FREE service that helps flood-affected people in their recovery by providing personalised, long-term support.

This service is designed to link people to their own personalised recovery support worker, who can help them navigate and access services and disaster assistance packages.

The recovery support workers also support people with the ongoing emotional, physical and financial impacts of floods, which may impact their longer term health and wellbeing.

Recovery support workers walk alongside affected people, acknowledging and addressing their challenges and struggles while respecting people’s strengths and their recovery choices and preferences. Recovery Support Services work collaboratively to reconnect people with local community resources to strengthen their resilience in the future.

Who can use this service?

People who have been directly impacted by the floods:

• Residents with damaged or destroyed homes

• Residents experiencing additional impacts (e.g. social and psychological impacts)

• Business owners

• Primary producers and rural landholders

How can people access the services?

• Affected people can phone or email us (self-referral)

• With a person’s consent, an agency can make a direct referral to our RSS

• No formal referral from a GP or other provider is required

In the Ballina Shire, there are a number of RSS providers that are accessible and we are working with both Uniting Care and the Mid Richmond Neighbourhood Centre to try and improve the accessibility and convenience of this service in Wardell.

Drop by and browse, stop in for a coffee and a chat.

Wardell’s first ‘Crop Swap’ is happening this Saturday

8.30 to 9.30am Saturday 29 October at Wardell CORE.

Bring to swap: home grown vegetables, fruit, cut flowers, edible and ornamental potted plants and propagation material, seeds, eggs, honey, home made preserves.

Don't have anything to swap? No problem! Come along and help pot and propagate plants for donation. Everyone is welcome and no experience is necessary.

The crop swap will be held every second Saturday at Wardell CORE. This is a great opportunity to share your surplus, find fresh food you don't produce, learn new skills and meet new people.

We are joining the world wide movement of crop-swaps that use this simple model to facilitate the swapping of homegrown produce, seeds and edible plants through local, cashless markets. These groups build community, reduce food waste and help people eat better, at a lesser cost.

Saturday morning meditation

Join us on Saturday mornings at 7am for gentle meditation and mindfulness exercises

We will be hosting short and informal meditation sessions weekly that are perfect for anyone who would like to come together to find some stillness and calmness in their week. Or perhaps you are looking to form a regular practice and mindfulness routine.

Cushions are provided for sitting or chairs are also available. Accessible for all levels of interest.

Followed by tea, coffee and conversation.
