$10,000 >>> Wardell CORE one of thirty local groups and not-for-profits (NFPs) across rural Australia awarded Telstra’s Connected Communities Grant Program 

To be better prepared for future telecommunications disruptions and following the recommendations of the Independent 2022 Flood Inquiry we have already made a number of investments in communications technology and contingencies to improve our communities preparedness.

This new grant will allow us to purchase a number assets including UHF radios and deliver operational training to community members and improve general skills in accessing disaster related information and warning systems.

Friday community social night is on again this week at WardellCORE

Join us for a community meal from 5:00. Hot soups warm hearts, heaters will be on and the fire hot for pizza from 5:30.

Yoga program is continuing - Round Two

Join us for the next 10 week program of Therapeutic Yoga in Wardell on Monday nights from 6pm-7pm at the Wardell Hall

Perfect for anyone of all ages, stages and abilities, this program will be individually tailored for your wants and needs

"Yoga Therapy" includes a range of therapeutic movements that are good for healthy joints, organ health, healthy lower backs and improving sleep.

Valued at over $200 with the support of Northern Rivers Community Foundation and Wardell CORE we are able to offer access to our community for just $5 per class = $50 for the ten week series.

Breath : Back by popular demand

we are once again offering an incredible opportunity to experience this unique and powerful program. We are truly fortunate to bring Breath : Cold Exposure Therapy with Benny back to Wardell.

Benny is a certified Wim Hof Method Instructor and Oxygen Advantage Advanced Instructor and will be delivering a workshop based on these methods and other practices he has utilised in his career in facing emergency situations. The workshop will predominantly be a breathwork session and an ice bath session.

Wardell’s fortnightly community produce bags will be available again next week.

Produce bags come in three sizes for different family sizes and we offer costs recovery at a sliding scale so you can opt to pay at a rate you can afford.

We offer a selection of seasonal fresh fruit and veggie staples including Onions, Potatoes, Carrots, Apples, Bananas, SweetPotato, Pumpkin, Greens etc

Something you don’t like or eat ?? No matter, all our bags come standard but you can swap items out for something you like.

If you can’t order online - drop in to the hub and we can take your order.

Everyone is invited to our next mending, alterations and craft group starting Tuesday 11 July at Wardell CORE.

If you have any clothes or items that need basic repairs, alterations or hemming, local seamstress Sharon Coombs ( Sew over the Richmond) will have her sewing machine at the ready to assist.

And we are calling on all crafters to help make upcycled water bottle covers to keep our community toasty warm this winter.

No experience necessary to get involved. From 12:30-3:30pm, pop in for alterations and crafting. It will be sew much fun!

Challengers are welcome at Wardell CORE.

Ping pong / table tennis is set to play all day, drop in for a casual game or bring some friends for a rally.

Kids at a loose end ? Tell them to drop in for a game.

It’s an open and supportive group for any new mums (and grandma's and carers too) in our region that want to have a causal catch-up, cup of tea, connection and space to chat with other mums, access wellbeing support and let their kids have a play.

Updates to the Orange Sky service

The amazing Simon and the Orange Sky team will continue to be available to offer support and laundry service in Wardell with the following updated times :

• Thursdays : 1pm-4pm

• Saturdays : 9am-2pm

A reminder that Orange Sky caters for a large number of community members and will be able to take 2 loads of laundry per person. If you need additional laundry done please make use of our self-service community laundry facility at Wardell CORE

Huge thanks to everyone who has been bringing in their cans and bottles for recycling - we are edging close to a total of $10,000 from Return and Earn.

Recycle for a cause ! Bring in your drink containers and help us fundraise for Wardell.

Please provide only the eligible containers as pictured, uncrushed and with barcodes visible. We prefer them unmixed and in boxes if possible. Deliver to the WardellCORE back gate for collection.

Disasters are disruptive to one's state of normalcy, including daily routines, activities of daily living, employment, transportation, housing, and social relations.

Disasters can take a serious toll on the mental health of individuals and our communities at large. Disasters don't happen and then conclude; they are termed "disasters" because they have far-ranging and long-standing impacts on people's lives and it is well known that at a year to 18 months after a catastrophe that untreated or unrecognised trauma presents as increasing anxiety and worsening depression.

While in many instances access to help and mental health support after a disaster is often really challenging - we are fortunate to be able to offer constant and FREE support.

Wardell’s Wellbeing Program offers a dedicated space for professional counselling services and qualified mental health supporters for the community and Wardell district.

Our facilities and programs are an essential asset for our community’s recovery and mental health. We are privileged to have the support of supported by Healthy North Coast to be able to provide this safe and welcoming space and offer a range of support with our amazing team of registered counsellors and mental health workers.

We provide a drop-in centre, appointments on demand and referral services available 5 days a week.

We can also offer outcalls and outreach or consultation by phone. Our mental health services are free, discreet and confidential.

You can come and talk to our professional team at any time for help, advice or support or just drop in for a cuppa and a chat.
