Get your hands dirty with these miraculous munching machines.  We will learn about different types of worm farms, how to manage compost worms at home, how to harvest worm caste (vermicompost) and worm farm exudate which make the perfect vegetable garden and indoor plant food.

There are so many benefits of these amazing composting critters. 

We will be providing demonstration, construction and materials to build your own worm farm to use at home !

Come and celebrate Mother’s Day this Sunday at Wardell CORE

We will be putting on a special morning tea for all the special mum’s in our community. Mother's Day is not just about the lady who helped you see the light of day, it is also about all those kind-hearted souls who contributed towards making you the person you are today.

Drop in for a luxurious pancake breakfast, scones, tea and coffee. Calling on anyone who would like to participate and contribute by bringing a cake to share or a tray of biscuits. Let’s come together to help make our mums feel spoilt.

We will have more hand prints available for kids to make as special gifts.

We are once again calling on your support to help community members who will be facing a cold winter in less-than-ideal conditions, with many residents still living in open and cold houses.

With a big shift away from emergency accommodation and highly transient community we know there are heaps of people in our region living it rough.

Please help us share the warmth and this message far and wide.

We will accept direct donations o fused goods with priority items being :

• Quality and clean blankets

• Heaters: we have the facilities to test and tag, but please ensure that all electrical items are in good condition

• Warm jackets of all sizes and styles; men’s, ladies and children’s

• Floor rugs and flood covers make a huge difference in homes with little furnishings

We reserve the right to reject any item that is not in good condition - please save us the trouble of having to throw away items that are not of a quality that you would use yourself.

Let’s Grow!

Are you interested in learning to grow more food at home for you, your family and to share with the wider community? Help us build local community food resilience, and lets us help you grow nutritious organic food at home.

Wardell CORE is seeking Expressions of Interest from households in the Wardell district who were impacted by the flood and are interested in participating in the pilot Home Grown gardening program.

The program will run for three months and will support households to install or revive a home vegetable garden and grow healthy, delicious produce to eat at home and share with the community.

Participants will receive one on one support at home from experienced gardeners and the Wardell CORE wellbeing team to nurture thriving plants and people. Please complete this form to register your interest.

Join us on a 10 week journey of discovery with this ancient technique guided by experienced practitioner Shawna Ink.

Our first session on Monday 22nd is a FREE introduction to QiGong with the intention of setting the foundation for continuing on this 10 week course  "THE ART OF SELF MASTERY THROUGH THE DAO OF QIGONG"

No experience or ability is necessary - this gentle exercise is practical and available for everyone.

OzHarvest finishing up

The OzHarvest Mini-market will be finishing its amazing service at the end of this month.

Final Market Days : 17th and 31st May 11-12pm

We will continue to offer a range of food relief options with ongoing support and partnerships with Food Bank Australia and Fair Share.

We also have a regular supply of local produce available and currently exploring new options to provide ongoing food access and relief.

Join this incredible opportunity to experience this unique and powerful program. 

We are truly fortunate to bring Breath : Cold Exposure Therapy with Benny to Wardell.

Benny is a certified Wim Hof Method Instructor and Oxygen Advantage Advanced Instructor and will be delivering a workshop based on these methods and other practices he has utilised in his career in facing emergency situations. The workshop will predominantly be a breathwork session and an ice bath session.

You will learn to utilise oxygen and cold exposure to optimise your body & mind, and the underlying physiological changes that occur during both practices. You will gain a deep understanding of stress and fear, and you will move through both of these states throughout the workshop.

For anyone interested in a bit of creative fun, you might like to join the new Wardell Rocks group.

This is an international community art movement that people of all ages and creative ability can enjoy as an artist or rock hunter.

There are already rocks waiting to be found around Wardell so keep your eyes peeled next time you're out walking! If you'd like to paint a rock, we have Posca pens and rocks at the hub.

Mahjong for beginners

A GOOD VIBES GAME OF SENSES AND STRATEGY

If you are keen to learn then join a social group at WardellCORE on Thursdays under the instruction of Jeannette from 1pm - 4pm

Tea, coffee, afternoon tea and good company provided.

Mahjong a rummy-like game played with 144-tiles. It is a game of strategy and attention that is easy to learn and has been shown to have many of the same cognitive benefits as chess and bridge.

Get help to “Repair to Return” home

The amazing team at Resilient Lismore are expanding the scope of their "Two Rooms - Repair to Return" program by helping flood-affected community members in the Wardell district who are still living without walls.

The aim is to get as many people as possible back living in safe and secure housing as possible. We are calling on you to let us know if you would like to register for this program.

Care for a Kayak ?

Sunday Morning Paddle 6:30am

There is now a regular group of paddlers who are enjoying slow meander of the Richmond River Sunday mornings. You can launch from either East Wardell boat ramp or The Wardell wharf..

All are welcome to enjoy the pleasant quiet of the river, connect with nature, a chance spotting of local dolphins, fish and ample birdlife along the river’s edge. The group is happy to support and accommodate paddlers of all levels of fitness and skill for adventures to Pimlico Island, Goat Island, Bingal Creek and more.

Wardell CORE is hoping to have more Kayaks to share for public use but for now, it is BYO Kayak, paddle, life jacket and water.
