What’s on this week

Join us this Saturday 22nd of April for our first local field trip ! a tour of local Organic vegetable farm Pimlico Organic Produce, where we will be holding a Garlic growing workshop and a shared picnic lunch.

Come and learn about soil and bed preparation, the basics of Garlic growing and help us all grow our community farm and garlic crop !

Booking is essential - If you are unable to book online, please come and see us at the hub!

FRIDAY NIGHT SOCIAL

Join us for a taste of Tuscany with our first of many “feature pizza” working with local farmers and producers to highlight their amazing local ingredients.

We have been so fortunate to date to have local Pimlico Organic mushrooms and this week we will enjoying amazing Fair Game Wild Venison Salami for an authentic Tuscan taste.

Its great meeting so many new people, bring your family, friends or neighbours along. All are welcome. Wood Fire Pizza by gold coin donation.

Nothing brings people together like good pizza.

Recovery Support Services

Dont forget you can access in person support with Lily from MRNC on Tuesdays from 9-12 at WardellCORE

Case Managers provide help with :

Completing a needs assessment, eligibility, and intake process for clients.
Developing individual service plans that includes the clients input.
Making appropriate community referrals for additional services and assist clients in obtaining available benefits as well as social and community resources.
Serve as a liaison between family services, medical/psychological health professionals and other contacts to help individuals and families in post-disaster events.
Conduct home and community visits with clients to provide ongoing support, assistance and to monitor and assess the effectiveness of services provided.

If you were affected by the February and March 2022 floods, there is still time to apply for financial support with the Back Home grant before it closes on the 20th of April 2023.

OzHarvest

mini market back this week.

OzHarvest’s food relief items are available to anyone in the region doing it tough.

In order to ensure that OzHarvest Mobile Market can continue to be available to our region they will be now moving to a fortnightly schedule.

Thread Together

are back in Wardell this week Tuesday 18 April from 11am-12.30pm at Wardell CORE.

Thread Together will be distributing brand new clothing at no charge to anyone who has been flood affected or is doing it tough.

Financial Counselling

Every 3rd Thursday we are grateful to be able to offer the support of Megan Whitaker - Financial Counsellor from the Lismore and District Financial Counselling Service.

Thank you Lennox Lions Club

This week received a significant contribution from the wonderful team at the Lennox Lions Club who have generously provided us with grant funding to help us keep our doors open to support the community.

We continue to celebrate the amazing support and continued investment from a strong network of support with our local service groups and organisations.

Join us for this 10 week program of Therapeutic Yoga in Wardell. Perfect for anyone of all ages, stages and abilities, this program will be individually tailored for your wants and needs

"Yoga Therapy" includes a range of therapeutic movements that are good for healthy joints, organ health, healthy lower backs and improving sleep.

Valued at over $200 with the support of Northern Rivers Community Foundation and Wardell CORE we are able to offer access to our community for just $5 per class = $50 for the ten week series.

Our practitioner Maxine is a local Yoga Therapy specialist with a desire to provide a yoga class that offers you an understanding of how trauma affects your body and of how different practices can support you with working through trauma in a somatic way.

What to bring :Bring a bottle of water, wear comfortable clothes, you can bring your own mat if you have one or we will have enough mats for anyone who needs one.

The amazing team at Resilient Lismore are expanding the scope of their "Two Rooms - Repair to Return" program by helping flood-affected community members in the Wardell district who are still living without walls.

The aim is to get as many people as possible back living in safe and secure housing as possible. We are calling on you to let us know if you would like to register for this program.

As we seek to support more community members in our region who are in need of help to return home we will also be looking for locals who can lend a hand with this volunteer work team.

1 to 2 days availability to help ( preference Thursday/Friday )

Orange Sky Laundry

A reminder that the amazing Orange Sky laundry is continuing services on Wardell. Drop in with your laundry and stop for a cup of tea and a chat with the team.

Put your best foot forward and join us Tuesdays for the Wardell community walking group. Whether it's for fun or fitness anyone can join in, take a stroll, chat, meet friends or make new ones.

From older adults to young children, from buggies to beagles – everybody can join in. Our goal is to bring communities together in a fun, healthy and engaging way. Meet in front of Wardell CORE to 7am start and followed by Tea/Coffee at return.

Join us on Saturday mornings at 7am for gentle meditation and mindfulness exercises

Cushions provided for sitting, chairs also available. Accessible for all levels of interest.

For our active crew who have been joining the weekly "Balance and Strength" class with Michelle - please note that this weekly class will now be held at the Wardell Hall.

There have also been enquiries about more intensive group exercise and personal training programs - if this is for you please get in touch and we will organise a weekly session !

Are you pregnant, a new mum, or a family with young children ?

Every week on Thursday we will be hosting a mothers group at Wardell CORE to offer support and connection for mum's in the community.

Feel free to drop by and join in. Come for a cuppa and bring your children for this informal play group and an opportunity to chat with our support team. Facilitated by Michelle

Keen to get more involved? We have an incredible team of volunteers who keep our hub homely and help steer the ship. We need people who can offer comfort and cheerful company and who are happy to help with the flow of goods and donations for distribution and keeping our space clean and tidy.

Who are WardellCORE ?

Wardell CORE continues to be community-led by a team of members who share a desire to support our region through disaster recovery and to build community connection and resilience.

Wardell CORE is an independent, ACNC Registered Charity and not-for-profit association supported by a wide range of partners, charities and community groups to provide humanitarian aid, mental health support, access to goods, services and social connection.

Wardell CORE is a community facility located at the “Old Bank” 3 Sinclair Street, Wardell. We are open 9am - 4pm, Tuesday - Saturday.
