Festival of Small Halls - Wardell January 28th

The Summer Tour 2024 of the Woodford Folk Festival is coming to town and will feature Trad-Scottish duo Ryan Young, sunshine-filled songwriter Alana Wilkinson from the Northern Rivers and local artist Jess Chate.

Get ready folks, this is an event not to be missed. Let’s fill the Wardell hall with music, love, resilience and spirit.

Wardell Community Courts Fundraiser

This Friday is your last chance to grab a Wardell CORE pizza for the year and to buy a ticket in the Wardell Community Courts fundraiser raffle.

There will be meat trays up for grabs and heap of prizes from Sunshine Sugar, Sugar town the label, Wardell Pharmacy, SportsPower Super Warehouse, JJ”s Fresh Seafood

Wardell Tool Library

With warming weather and good rains are you managing to keep up with summer growth ?

Don’t forget we have both of these great tools available for loan from our tool library ! Drop in to Wardell CORE to book. First time users will need to register and receive and induction.

Huge thanks to the Inner Wheel Club of Lismore who helped us to purchase this equipment with donations from clubs around Australia - they have been such great assets!

We hope to continue to expand our tools library with more equipment to share. Why own when you can loan. Other items include 6x4 box trailer, pressure washers, power tools, bench saw, sanders and more

We have a fully stocked freezer with a fresh supply of these wonderful ready made meals for anyone in need.

So grateful for the ongoing support of Fare Share Australia and their missions to make sure that anyone facing hardship of any kind can enjoy a good feed.

Wardell CORE has received the Northern Rivers Community Foundation “Thriving Together Grant”. This is such a wonderful investment in our community and will provide funding for the next three years.

We are all so grateful for this amazing acknowledgement and unique resourcing model that will enable us to build sustainability, maintain our core operations and continue to build community resilience in our region. This is such an incredible way to round out the year and gives us the opportunity to plan ahead and an assurance that we will be able to continue to provide community support.

It is a great honour to share this years grant round with so many activated, passionate and inspiring people in our region contributing to so many issues and challenges across the Northern Rivers. We look forward to learning and sharing with you all.

We are absolutely thrilled and honoured to receive the Community Achievement Awards for NSW & The ACT Peoples Choice Award and also be acknowledged as a Connecting Communities award finalist.

These awards offer recognition for the 'grass roots' organisations across Australia that are led by communities, to bring the life, connections and engagement that helps build vibrant communities.

The Community Achievement Awards started in 2002 and are designed to encourage, acknowledge and reward the valuable contributions that individuals, communities and businesses make.

Members of our team were spoilt with a fabulous night out at the Gala event held in Sydney last Saturday and we left inspired to share this event with so many passionate and exceptional organisations and individuals from across the state.

Was really so great to host Warren Davies - The Unbreakable Farmer in Wardell to share his story of overcoming mental health challenges and bringing wellbeing into forum for our local farming community.

Huge thanks to Rosie - NSW Department of Primary Industries Rural Recovery Support worker who has been tirelessly working to help local farmers through flood recovery.

A great opportunity to connect and meet some new faces at the hub.

Huge thank you to The Living School for treating us to an awesome rock concert performed by an amazing group of super talented groovers. Really was fabulous to see these kids, playing loud and proud with so much confidence.

We held our last “Wardell Youth Leading the World” program for the year and had such a great time with the crew hand printing designed onto our own t-shrits

These original artworks were produced by the kids and inspired by their experience and connecting with the Richmond River ecosystems throughout the series field trips exploring riparian zones, koala habitatm water health and more.

We also had a great brainstorming session reflecting on the concerns that young people have for the health of our river and discussed ideas for how they can create change and inspire others.

Wardell’s Wellbeing Program offers a dedicated space for professional counselling services and qualified mental health supporters for the community and Wardell district.

Our facilities and programs are an essential asset for our community’s recovery and mental health. We are privileged to have the support of supported by Healthy North Coast to be able to provide this safe and welcoming space and offer a range of support with our amazing team of registered counsellors and mental health workers.

We provide a drop-in centre, appointments on demand and referral services available 5 days a week. We can also offer outcalls and outreach or consultation by phone. Our mental health services are free, discreet and confidential. You can come and talk to our professional team at any time for help, advice or support or just drop in for a cuppa and a chat.
