We will reopen January 3, 2023
We now have a dedicated, permanent part-time Mental Health and Wellbeing team member available Tuesday and Wednesday 9am-4pm. Please call to make an appointment for a private consultation or drop-in for this FREE support program.
As always; mental health support, cups of tea, wifi / internet access, printing, community shower, community laundry, take home meals, company and connection available daily.

All our services and support remain free to access for people in need. Contributions by donation are welcome.

Keeping mentally healthy this holiday season

The holiday period can be a challenging time for individuals and communities across the country. The resources below may help provide support over the festive season.

At this time of year, it is important to look after your physical, emotional and mental health. Take some time to connect with family, friends, community and culture. Check-in with how you are feeling and perhaps identify some activities that support your wellbeing.

There are a range of mental health initiatives to support individuals and communities over the festive season. Please use the following resources and reach out for help.

'Tis the season to be asking R U OK?

R U OK? has released a holiday season campaign to encourage all Australians to connect with those in their world who might be finding this time of year difficult. Resources include tips on who to check in on and how to make those connections meaningful.

Adapting in action: Building community resilience in the face of natural disasters

A huge thanks and congratulations to everyone who has helped bring this report to fruition. Specifically, Dr Hanabeth Luke from Southern Cross University who has led this research and survey process with the support of Jacob Birch for this preliminary report. This research along with a number of studies that are still in the pipeline are valuable repositories of data for analysing the disaster impact, and validation of the success of grassroots recovery organisations such as Resilient Lismore, Wardell CORE & the Woodburn Recovery Centre. These reports also highlight the vast dissatisfaction with the various levels of government response and hopefully will prompt considerations for future disasters and catalyse structural reform.

Children and Young People Wellbeing Recovery Initiative

An amazing announcement for the end of the school year.

We are thrilled to have received confirmation from the Office of The Hon. Ben Franklin MLC, Minister for Regional Youth that our application for the Children and Young People Wellbeing Recovery Initiative to deliver youth programs in Wardell has been successful!

We are so grateful to have this funding to enable us to fill a critical gap in support for young people in our district and is a great recognition that the need to reduce the risks to the emotional and psychological safety for regional youth is a critical issue.

Huge thanks to all the parents and concerned community members who wrote such heartfelt letters of support.

Time out over the silly season

Our amazing team will be taking their very first and much-needed break between Xmas and the new year. We will be closing the doors and not open on Saturday the 24th and will then reopen for Tuesday the 3rd of January.

We are all very mindful that Christmas can be a stressful and challenging time for some people and additionally confronting after the year we have all had. Be assured that support and mental health access lines will still be available throughout the holiday period. If you are feeling challenged at all, please make sure you reach out for help and connection during this time.

Lets look out for out families, our neighbours and our mates through time and remember to ask R U OK. Stay tuned for more resources and support information on our website, fb page and fb group.

Who are WardellCORE ?

Wardell CORE continues to be community-led by a team of members who share a desire to support our region through disaster recovery and to build community connection and resilience.

Wardell CORE is an independent, ACNC Registered Charity and not-for-profit association supported by a wide range of partners, charities and community groups to provide humanitarian aid, mental health support, access to goods, services and social connection.

Wardell CORE is a community facility located at the “Old Bank” 3 Sinclair Street, Wardell. We are open 9am - 4pm, Tuesday - Saturday.
