The ‘peoples pavilion’ has been the culmination of weeks of collective effort and there are so many people and supporters to thank.

With principal funding from News Corp and ongoing support from MP Tamara Smith, Rotary Club Ballina on Richmond, Anglicare North Coast and the Lennox Lions Club.

Huge thanks to all the community members and volunteers who have helped to create this fabulous space with special mention to Simon, Venetia, Bob, Pete, Michelle, Peter and everyone who has helped along the ways.

Cool for summer and dry for the wet season we can now accommodate a wide range of community services, meetings, workshops and social activities you can make WardellCORE your ‘home away from home’.

Both indoors and out are available to anyone throughout the week to meet with case managers, access mental health support, connect with friends or just stop in for a cup of tea.

Internet / free WIFI is available throughout.

Wardell’s ‘Crop Swap’ is happening again this Saturday

8.30 to 9.30am every second Saturday at Wardell CORE.

Bring to swap: home grown vegetables, fruit, cut flowers, edible and ornamental potted plants and propagation material, seeds, eggs, honey, home made preserves.

Don't have anything to swap? No problem! Come along and help pot and propagate plants for donation. Everyone is welcome and no experience is necessary.

The crop swap will be held every second Saturday at Wardell CORE. This is a great opportunity to share your surplus, find fresh food you don't produce, learn new skills and meet new people.

We are joining the world wide movement of crop-swaps that use this simple model to facilitate the swapping of homegrown produce, seeds and edible plants through local, cashless markets. These groups build community, reduce food waste and help people eat better, at a lesser cost.

Join in this amazing series of FREE programs combining hands on workshops, information sessions and tours of local properties with opportunities to connect with your community. OzGreen are all about ACTION and encourage you to join in to prepare for the future and build stronger, more connected communities.

Landscape Preparedness Community Day - is coming up this Sunday in Evans Head, 13th Nov 2022
with a FULL day workshop including:\

• Visioning and Planning for whats ahead, and how we can take action in our communities to be prepared

• Connecting over a FREE COMMUNITY LUNCH, providing opportunity for networking and idea sharing amongst the group.

• A series of skills based workshops, tours of nearby properties or information sessions from key speakers.

Learn how to create fantastic compost. Learn about making weed teas with Tony Browne from Brownies Biodynamics who will be sharing some of the secrets of building great soil.

Saturday morning meditation

Join us on Saturday mornings at 7am for gentle meditation and mindfulness exercises

We will be hosting short and informal meditation sessions weekly that are perfect for anyone who would like to come together to find some stillness and calmness in their week. Or perhaps you are looking to form a regular practice and mindfulness routine.

Cushions are provided for sitting or chairs are also available. Accessible for all levels of interest.

Followed by tea, coffee and conversation.

Please arrive quietly and enter by the back gate at Wardell CORE and be sure to have your phone off.

Why own when you can loan?

We have made a start on collecting tools and equipment to stock a tool library for community use.

A tool library is just like a book library, but loans out tools and other useful equipment.

Knowing that everyone has lost so many of their personal tools - this initiative will help reduce the burden of cost to access tools for jobs, builds community and reduces the environmental impact of tools that are hardly used sitting on shelves.

We have a range of gear already for loan and will publish the inventory is now available from the Wardell CORE website. We have a new online booking system that will go live soon but would love your help in assessing what kinds of tools you will be likely to need in the immediate future.

Extension ladders, air compressor, car jack, arc welder, pressure washer, carpet shampooer, hand held saw, hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, clamps, tile cutter, plastering gear, bottle capper

Garden: lawn mower, variety of gardening equipment – digging and pruning tools, hedge trimmer, whipper snipper, post hole digger,

Other awesome things might include : video projector, sewing machine, picnic baskets with crockery, reusable crockery sets for parties, trailers...
