Join our next mending, alterations and craft group starting Tuesday 25 July at Wardell CORE.

If you have any clothes or items that need basic repairs, alterations or hemming, local seamstress Sharon Coombs ( Sew over the Richmond) will have her sewing machine at the ready to assist.

And we are calling on all crafters to help make upcycled water bottle covers to keep our community toasty warm this winter.

No experience necessary to get involved. From 1:00 - 4:00pm, pop in for alterations and crafting. It will be sew much fun!

Wardell’s fortnightly community produce bags will be available again next week.

Produce bags come in three sizes for different family sizes and we offer costs recovery at a sliding scale so you can opt to pay at a rate you can afford.

We offer a selection of seasonal fresh fruit and veggie staples including Onions, Potatoes, Carrots, Apples, Bananas, Sweet Potato, Pumpkin, Greens etc

Something you don’t like or eat ?? No matter, all our bags come standard but you can swap items out for something you like.

Mural Painting school holiday program

We had such a blast with local artist Lis Schoeppe at our Mural Painting school holiday program.

The mural is looking awesome and everyone has had such a great time. Thank you so much Lis ! The vibrant piece of art will be featured in the Main Street of Wardell and we are now wanting to get all the kids from Wardell and surrounds to drop in and grab a fish or a bird to paint that we will fix in place on the mural so everyone can have their artwork featured.

Open Mic Sunday Session is back !

Mark your calendars for this weekend and Wardell’s next monthly Open Mic Sunday, 30th July from 1 to 5pm.

PA, Microphones and a small drum kit will be provided. We encourage everyone, and all ages and styles to get up and show their passion and talent in a laid back friendly environment.

DPI Blue Carbon on Primary Production Land tour Monday 24 July 9:30-1:30

Celebrating World Mangrove Day and the conclusion of the Living Lab Northern Rivers Working with Nature: Flood Resilient Landscapes Exhibition, the Department of Primary Industries is holding a tour of their Blue Carbon Demonstration on Primary Production Land project at Duck Creek Research Station.

Come and learn about blue carbon as an alternate land use option and its application on the coastal floodplain to generate income and mitigate the impacts of climate change such as sea level rise and flooding.

This is a FREE event held by NSW Department of Primary Industries in partnership with the Living Lab Northern Rivers. The event will involve a 1.5-hour walking site tour of the DPI Blue Carbon Demonstration on Primary Production Land project followed by a catered lunch.

It’s an open and supportive group for any new mums (and grandma's and carers too) in our region that want to have a causal catch-up, cup of tea, connection and space to chat with other mums, access wellbeing support and let their kids have a play.

We now have a co-working space available for use at Wardell CORE.

If you need access to a computer for office, admin or personal use with internet access and printer drop in an use it while the office is open or book the space in advance.

Huge thanks to everyone who has been bringing in their cans and bottles for recycling - we are edging close to a total of $10,000 from Return and Earn.

Recycle for a cause ! Bring in your drink containers and help us fundraise for Wardell.

Please provide only the eligible containers as pictured, uncrushed and with barcodes visible. We prefer them unmixed and in boxes if possible. Deliver to the WardellCORE back gate for collection.

Disasters are disruptive to one's state of normalcy, including daily routines, activities of daily living, employment, transportation, housing, and social relations.

Disasters can take a serious toll on the mental health of individuals and our communities at large. Disasters don't happen and then conclude; they are termed "disasters" because they have far-ranging and long-standing impacts on people's lives and it is well known that at a year to 18 months after a catastrophe that untreated or unrecognised trauma presents as increasing anxiety and worsening depression.

While in many instances access to help and mental health support after a disaster is often really challenging - we are fortunate to be able to offer constant and FREE support.

Wardell’s Wellbeing Program offers a dedicated space for professional counselling services and qualified mental health supporters for the community and Wardell district.

Our facilities and programs are an essential asset for our community’s recovery and mental health. We are privileged to have the support of supported by Healthy North Coast to be able to provide this safe and welcoming space and offer a range of support with our amazing team of registered counsellors and mental health workers.

We provide a drop-in centre, appointments on demand and referral services available 5 days a week.

We can also offer outcalls and outreach or consultation by phone. Our mental health services are free, discreet and confidential.
