What’s On

If you were affected by the February and March 2022 floods, there is still time to apply for financial support with the Back Home grant before it closes on the 20th of April 2023.

If you have had trouble or experienced barriers to accessing these grants please get in touch. There is a range of support services available that can help.

Every Tuesday you can speak with a Case Manager in person at WardellCORE from 9-12
We can help you to connect with Lismore Financial Counselling Service and Northern Rivers Community Legal Centre who can both help you process grant applications.

A reminder of the change to this service. There will be no OzHarvest mini market this week.

In order to ensure that OzHarvest Mobile Market can continue to be available to our region they will be now moving to a fortnightly schedule.

Please observe the changes to their schedule.

There will be no market this week (April 12th) and the team will then be here at the hub every second week thereafter.

Thread Together are back in Wardell next week Tuesday 18 April from 11am-12.30pm at Wardell CORE.

Thread Together will be distributing brand new clothing at no charge to anyone who has been flood affected or is doing it tough.

Nothing brings people together like good pizza.

Join us any time from 5pm till 9pm. The oven will be hot and we will be firing pizzas from 5:30-7:30

The Northern Rivers Community Legal Centre will be joining us again this week at the Wardell CORE 13th April

You can catch the team every 2nd Thursday from 1 - 3:30pm

Our next gardening workshop is lined up

Join us Saturday 22nd of April for our first local field trip ! a tour of local Organic vegetable farm Pimlico Organic Produce, where we will be holding a Garlic growing workshop and a shared picnic lunch.

Morning tea provided.

Come and learn about soil and bed preparation, the basics of Garlic growing and help us all build our first community farm and garlic crop !

We will be visiting a working farm and will require your support. Children are welcome so long as they are well supervised. Please wear close-toed shoes and dress appropriately for sun and weather protection. Bring a water bottle, sun hats / glasses - but please leave your dogs at home.

New Wardell Walking Group

Put your best foot forward and join us Tuesdays for the Wardell community walking group.

Whether it's for fun or fitness anyone can join in, take a stroll, chat, meet friends or make new ones.

From older adults to young children, from buggies to beagles – everybody can join in. Our goal is to bring communities together in a fun, healthy and engaging way.

Meet in front of Wardell CORE to 7am start and followed by Tea/Coffee at return.

Coming Up

Th Boaty Boys next challenge… it is a paddle extravaganza on the Wilsons & Richmond Rivers in early May!

100km in 3 days! All for charity.

They’re aiming to paddle 100km over 3 days from Lismore all the way down to Ballina to raise funds for local organisations including The Healthy Mind Club , Our Kids, Parkinsons Disease & Revive the Northern Rivers

Revive the Northern Rivers will be dropping by for the last leg of the paddle to give a bit of background on the current state of our river system and where we go from here because our river needs our help.

There will be a great chance for the Wardell Community to get involved - either by giving the crew a good shout from the shore as they paddle by or if you have a kayak - jump in and get paddling!

Youth Week is coming up ! and the Ballina Youth Network are offering this great program with a range of fun opportunities to learn to surf for 12-24 year olds.

Cushions provided for sitting, chairs also available. Accessible for all levels of interest.

For our active crew who have been joining the weekly "Balance and Strength" class with Michelle - please note that this weekly class will now be held at the Wardell Hall.

There have also been enquiries about more intensive group exercise and personal training programs - if this is for you please get in touch and we will organise a weekly session !

Are you pregnant, a new mum, or a family with young children ?

Every week on Thursday we will be hosting a mothers group at Wardell CORE to offer support and connection for mum's in the community.

Feel free to drop by and join in. Come for a cuppa and bring your children for this informal play group and an opportunity to chat with our support team. Facilitated by Michelle

OzHarvest Mobile Market is now on every second Wednesday 11:00-12:00

OzHarvest’s food relief items are available to anyone in the region doing it tough. If you need food support please contact Oz Harvest and visit us at Wardell CORE to access our dry goods food pantry.

Orange Sky Laundry

A reminder that the amazing Orange Sky laundry is continuing services on Wardell. Drop in with your laundry and stop for a cup of tea and a chat with the team.

Wardell CORE continues to be community-led by a team of members who share a desire to support our region through disaster recovery and to build community connection and resilience.

Wardell CORE is an independent, ACNC Registered Charity and not-for-profit association supported by a wide range of partners, charities and community groups to provide humanitarian aid, mental health support, access to goods, services and social connection.

Wardell CORE is a community facility located at the “Old Bank” 3 Sinclair Street, Wardell. We are open 9am - 4pm, Tuesday - Saturday.
