St Patricks Day - Friday Night Social !

This Friday is St Patrick’s Day and for our social night we have special guests Leanne and Andy from the The Eerie Things

Join us for a boogie and a feed from 5pm. Music from 6. Dinner by gold coin donation.

Prizes for best dressed - hope to see some Leprechaun’s !

OzGreen Resilient Communities program Sunday 19th March

These two amazing free workshops are available as part of Evens Head Community Workshops program - Join in and book now

Looking to meet new people, learn and share ideas?

Resilient Communities is coming to Evans Head! This free program combines two free workshops and a free community shared meal. In the morning, there is a ‘Vision to Action’ workshop with the OzGREEN team, followed by a lunch catered by Wild Olive. In the afternoon, choose between two workshops: ‘Cooking and Caring for Community Workshop’ with Nita Taylor and ‘Creating Community Change Workshop’ with Wardell CORE.

Monthly FREE Financial Counselling Service

Next Session in Wardell : 23rd March 12pm - 3pm at WardellCORE

Lismore & District Financial Counselling Service provides free, confidential financial counselling to people experiencing severe financial difficulties due to personal debt issues.

Who is eligible?
Anyone experiencing financial stress

Time: Thursday 23rd March, 12pm - 3pm

Services: Financial counsellors are qualified professionals who provide information, advice and advocacy to people in financial difficulty.

Their services are non-judgmental, free, independent and confidential.

What do financial counsellors do? Financial counsellors help people to:

understand which debts are priorities
develop budgets and money plans
understand the pros and cons of different options to manage financial issues
access grants or concessions
negotiate with creditors
access dispute resolution services
understand their rights and access legal help.

Financial counsellors have specific knowledge about the credit, bankruptcy and debt collection laws, concession frameworks and industry hardship practices. They’re also trained in negotiation and counselling, and offer emotional support and a listening ear when people really need it.

Cost: Free

Grief is an experience that is often misunderstood

Remember that time on its own is not a healer of grief.

Instead, we should use the time to do healing activities that can help you move forward; this includes connecting with loved ones or your community, talking to mental health experts, or engaging in other rewarding activities.

We aim to provide a range of places and spaces for you to connect and opportunities to participate in activities that are nourishing and supportive.

We have a dedicated and qualified mental health team that is available to anyone who needs.

This service is free of charge, completely confidential and can be as comprehensive or casual as you need it. You can reach out to our wellbeing team by email wellbeing@wardellcore.community by phone on 0431 716 457 or drop in to the hub to make an appointment.

Reducing waste and building resilience

We are thrilled that so many folks have received one of our new tote bags distributed at the Wardell District - One Year On event.

and even happier to have received so much great feedback. Once again a big thanks to Dalee Ella our local artist for her support and design.

These bags are a wonderful re-usable and waste-free option for you to collect goods and supplies from Wardell CORE and will be a replacement from the pantry bags we have previously had on offer.

We will soon be no longer supplying single-use bags for the WardellCORE community pantry. You will be able to access the pantry with one of these “Community is Resilience” bags or purchase a new one if required for $5.

You will also be able to buy these bags on our website soon to raise funds for our community recovery.

Mens health and exercise groups

Calling all fellas!

Would you be interested in a Men's pilates group in Wardell or have you got other ideas for health and exercise programs that you would be keen to have available ?

We would love to hear from you and get your suggestions.

Wardell Progress Association are holding their “Pop up Pub” again this Sunday 18th of March

2pm - 6pm at the back of the Wardell Hall.

$5 schooners FREE sausage sizzle plus nibbles.

Weekly offering -

Join us on Saturday mornings at 7am for gentle meditation and mindfulness exercises

Cushions provided for sitting, chairs also available. Accessible for all levels of interest.

Followed by tea and coffee

For our active crew who have been joining the weekly "Balance and Strength" class with Michelle - please note that this weekly class will now be held at the Wardell Hall.

There have also been enquiries about more intensive group exercise and personal training programs - if this is for you please get in touch and we will organise a weekly session !

Are you pregnant, a new mum, or a family with young children ?

Every week on Thursday we will be hosting a mothers group at Wardell CORE to offer support and connection for mum's in the community.

Feel free to drop by and join in. Come for a cuppa and bring your children for this informal play group and an opportunity to chat with our support team. Facilitated by Michelle

OzHarvest Mobile Market is now on on Wednesdays 11:00-12:00

OzHarvest’s food relief items are available to anyone in the region doing it tough. If you need food support please contact Oz Harvest and visit us at Wardell CORE to access our dry goods food pantry.

Orange Sky Laundry

A reminder that the amazing Orange Sky laundry is continuing services on Wardell. Drop in with your laundry and stop for a cup of tea and a chat with the team.

Keen to get more involved? We have an incredible team of volunteers who keep our hub homely and help steer the ship. We need people who can offer comfort and cheerful company and who are happy to help with the flow of goods and donations for distribution and keeping our space clean and tidy.

Wardell CORE continues to be community-led by a team of members who share a desire to support our region through disaster recovery and to build community connection and resilience.

Wardell CORE is an independent, ACNC Registered Charity and not-for-profit association supported by a wide range of partners, charities and community groups to provide humanitarian aid, mental health support, access to goods, services and social connection.

Wardell CORE is a community facility located at the “Old Bank” 3 Sinclair Street, Wardell. We are open 9am - 4pm, Tuesday - Saturday.
