On Saturday the 25 of February, 2023 we recognised and commemorated the one year anniversary of the flood that destroyed our region.

This event was visited by an estimated 700 people who came from around our district to connect with the river and each other.

This event was funded by Reconnecting Regional NSW Funding and organised by Wardell CORE, the Ballina on Richmond Rotary Club and Ballina Shire Council

One Year On

Wardell’s Community Hub and Recovery Centre

Wardell District - One Year On

Saturday February 25th

Twelve months have passed since our region suffered one of the most significant natural disasters our Nation has ever seen.

With the support of a NSW Government Reconnecting Regional Communities Grant, the Rotary Club of Ballina on Richmond, Ballina Shire Council and a wide range of community support stakeholders we will be holding a FREE community event to commemorate, reflect, and acknowledge the monumental emergency rescue effort and the year of recovery that is now behind us.

This is an opportunity for us to come together to recognise how far we have come and how much further our community has yet to go while celebrating the strength of our district and what we have achieved together.

We will be providing a range of afternoon entertainment activities, kids space, food vendors and a commemorative ceremony. We hope to see you and have the involvement and support of everyone in the community that has been involved; from our tiny army, first nations community members, community supporters, schools and residents.

Stay tuned here for more details as they evolve or join our mailing list
