When will the prizes be awarded?
Entries close on Friday March 1. Prizes will be awarded on Saturday March 2, 2024. Bring your sunflower(s) to Wardell CORE any time during open hours for measurement.
What are the rules?
You can enter any category as many times as you like
The same sunflower can be entered into multiple categories
Open to Wardell and district residents.
Contest ends Friday March 1, 2024.
You must preregister to enter, or register at the time of submission..

Who can enter?
The competition is open to all residents of Wardell an d surrounding district.
What are the prize categories?
Tallest Sunflower Plant : PRIZE $50 Voucher
The tallest plant is measured from the base of the stem (not including the roots) to the top of the head.
Cut the plant off at the roots to make it easier to measure the stem, and remove the leaves from the stalk (stem) because only the stalk and seed head will be measured. Bring the plant to Wardell CORE for measurement.
Biggest Sunflower Head : PRIZE $50 Voucher
The biggest head will be measured as the diameter of the seed head. The flower petals will not be measured or required. Heads can be cut from the stalk (unless also entering the same plant in the tallest sunflower category) and brought to Wardell CORE for measurement.
Sunflower Photo : PRIZE $50 Voucher
Your photo can be as creative as your like but must include you and your sunflower. Send your photo to hello@wardellcore.community or share it to our Facebook group www.facebook.com/groups/growwellwardell
